What makes the CIS-EM hard
CIS-EM is the shortest exam in the ServiceNow implementation specialist family, 30 questions in 60 minutes, which makes it less forgiving rather than easier: each question is worth more than three percent, and the blueprint concentrates 57% of the marks in two domains. It is the ITOM exam for turning raw monitoring events into alerts and incidents, currently written against the Zurich release, and it assumes Discovery and MID Server knowledge from the start.
Alerts and Tasks carries 30%: alert records and their lifecycle, the scheduled jobs that process them, alert management rules, priority scores, incident creation, correlation rules, aggregation and the Service Operations Workspace. Event Configuration and Use follows at 27%: event processing, event rules, filters and thresholds, message keys and configuration item binding, connectors, and the scripting side with regular expressions, JavaScript and PowerShell for parsing and transforming events.
Event Sources (16%) covers identifying sources, push versus pull collection, inbound actions, monitoring connectors and Agent Client Collector monitoring. Architecture and Discovery and Metric Intelligence each carry 10%, and Event Management Overview closes the blueprint at 7%. Knowing which table an event lands in, and the order the rules run in, decides several questions.
