CAD is the developer credential in the ServiceNow track: the certification for anyone who writes scripts, builds applications or works with APIs on the Now Platform. It builds directly on CSA knowledge and proves you can develop on ServiceNow, not just administer it.
What decides it is application development on the Now Platform end to end: scripting with business rules, client scripts and script includes, application scoping, the data model and tables, UI policies and actions, REST and inbound and outbound integrations, and the full ServiceNow development lifecycle. The exam rewards solid JavaScript combined with ServiceNow specific scripting patterns.

The ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) validates the ability to develop applications on the Now Platform, covering scripting, application design and the ServiceNow development lifecycle. CSA is the recommended foundation.
