What makes the JNCIA-SEC hard
JNCIA-SEC is the associate exam for the SRX Series, and JN0-232 is the current version. It has no formal prerequisite, but it assumes Junos CLI familiarity at JNCIA-Junos level, so it does not re-teach the CLI and goes straight into how the SRX handles a packet and how zones, policies, NAT and VPN shape that. The questions are configuration and flow questions, not general security theory.
The objectives follow the SRX packet flow: SRX Series devices and the flow based versus packet based processing model; security zones and screen options for reconnaissance and flood protection; security policies including match criteria, actions and unified policy features; NAT covering source, destination and static NAT and evaluation order; IPsec VPN covering IKE phases and policy based versus route based designs; Unified Threat Management profiles; and monitoring, reporting and troubleshooting with the session table and traceoptions. Juniper does not publish weightings or a passing score.
