What makes the CTFL v4.0 hard
The v4.0 syllabus is not the old CTFL with a new cover. ISTQB rewrote it, and question banks built for v3.1 will actively mislead candidates.
The 2023 rewrite pushed weight onto test techniques and made them harder: boundary value analysis now includes three value boundaries, decision table and state transition questions expect coverage to be calculated, and whole team and agile concepts run through every chapter. Each question is written to a cognitive level, remember, understand or apply, and the apply level ones are small puzzles, not definitions.
The exam is 40 questions in 60 minutes, 26 correct to pass, which sounds generous until four coverage calculation questions land in a row. This pack has 242 practice questions for the v4.0 exam, so the technique puzzles and ISTQB’s exact glossary phrasing are familiar in advance.
