Three of the 425 questions in this pack

Question 1

Note: This question is part of a series of questions that present the same scenario. Each question in the series contains a unique solution that might meet the stated goals. Some question sets might have more than one correct solution, while others might not have a correct solution. After you answer a question in this section, you will NOT be able to return to it. As a result, these questions will not appear in the review screen. You are configuring the year-end setup in Dynamics 365 Finance. You need to configure the year-end setup to meet the following requirements: • The accounting adjustments that are received in the first quarter must be able to be posted into the previous year's Period 13. • The fiscal year closing can be run again, but only the most recent closing entry will remain in the transactions. • All dimensions from profit and loss must carry over into the retained earnings. • All future and previous periods must have an On Hold status. Solution: • Configure General ledger parameters. • Set the Delete close of year transactions option to Yes. • Set the Create closing transactions during transfer option to Yes. • Set the Fiscal year status to permanently closed option to No. • Define the Year-end close template. • Designate a retained earnings main account for each legal entity. • Set the Financial dimensions will be used on the Opening transactions option to No. • Set the Transfer profit and loss dimensions option to Close All. • Set all prior and future Ledger periods to a status of On Hold. Does the solution meet the goal?

  1. Yes
  2. No
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. Yes

This solution correctly addresses all four requirements. Setting Delete close of year transactions to Yes allows the fiscal year closing to be run again with only the most recent closing entry remaining. Setting Create closing transactions during transfer to Yes enables the posting of adjustments to Period 13. Setting Fiscal year status to permanently closed to No keeps the period open for adjustments. The Year-end close template configuration with Transfer profit and loss dimensions set to Close All ensures all P&L dimensions carry over to retained earnings. Setting all prior and future periods to On Hold status satisfies the final requirement.

Why the other options are wrong

  • B. While this could be a valid solution, there is at least one configuration error that prevents it from meeting all goals as stated.

Question 2

Note: This question is part of a series of questions that present the same scenario. Each question in the series contains a unique solution that might meet the stated goals. Some question sets might have more than one correct solution, while others might not have a correct solution. After you answer a question in this section, you will NOT be able to return to it. Solution: • Configure General ledger parameters. • Set the Delete close of year transactions option to Yes. • Set the Create closing transactions during transfer option to Yes. • Set the Fiscal year status to permanently closed option to Yes. • Define the Year-end close template. • Designate a retained earnings main account for each legal entity. • Set the Financial dimensions will be used on the Opening transactions option to Yes. • Set the Transfer profit and loss dimensions to Close All. • Set all prior and future Ledger periods to a status of On Hold. Does the solution meet the goal?

  1. Yes
  2. No
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. No

This solution fails to meet the requirements. Setting Fiscal year status to permanently closed to Yes prevents the Period 13 from accepting adjustments in the first quarter, violating the first requirement. Additionally, setting Financial dimensions will be used on the Opening transactions to Yes contradicts the requirement that dimensions from profit and loss carry over into retained earnings during the close process. The Create closing transactions during transfer and Delete close of year transactions settings alone cannot compensate for these critical misconfigurations.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. This solution contains configuration errors that prevent it from fully meeting the stated requirements.

Question 3

Note: This question is part of a series of questions that present the same scenario. Each question in the series contains a unique solution that might meet the stated goals. Some question sets might have more than one correct solution, while others might not have a correct solution. After you answer a question in this section, you will NOT be able to return to it. Does the solution meet the goal?

  1. Yes
  2. No
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. No

This solution fails to meet the requirements. Setting Delete close of year transactions to No means closing entries cannot be deleted and rerun; only the most recent closing entry remaining cannot be guaranteed. Setting Create closing transactions during transfer to No prevents the system from creating opening balances for the next period, which is necessary for the overall close process to function properly. Without these settings enabled, the year-end closing cannot be run again as required.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. This solution contains critical configuration errors that prevent it from meeting the stated requirements.

What makes the MB-310 hard

MB-310 was rewritten on 14 August 2026, the biggest change the exam has had in years. Cost management is gone as an objective and budget planning is new, while ledgers and currencies, journals, periodic processes, accounts receivable, subscription billing, accounts payable and fixed asset transactions are all marked as major rewrites in Microsoft’s own change log. A bank of questions from the March 2024 blueprint will not carry a candidate through this version.

Financial management is still over a third of the exam, but it now reads like the current product: financial tags, derived dimensions, legal entity overrides, posting layers, ledger allocation rules, intercompany accounting, Excel journal templates, advanced bank reconciliation, cash flow forecast automation, customer and vendor netting, ledger settlements, and consolidation and elimination through Consolidation online.

The receivables domain adds shared customers, billing classification and a full subscription billing section with billing schedules, contract billing, milestones and revenue and expense deferral schedules. Fixed assets now expects multi-company depreciation and acquisitions from purchase orders, journals, inventory journals and projects.
