Three of the 40 questions in this pack

Question 1

Which element of the operating model refers to third parties contributing to value creation activities?

  1. Partners and suppliers
  2. Value streams and processes
  3. Value chain
  4. Organizations and people
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. Partners and suppliers

Partners and suppliers represent the external third parties that contribute to value creation activities within an operating model. They are explicitly identified as key elements of how organizations create and deliver value, working alongside internal capabilities to form the complete value ecosystem.

Why the other options are wrong

  • B. Value streams and processes describe how work flows and activities are organized, not the role of external contributors.
  • C. The value chain is a broader concept encompassing all value-creating activities, not specifically about third-party contributions.
  • D. Organizations and people refer to internal structure and human resources, not external partners.

Question 2

What does sustainability assure in the context of a service or product?

  1. The service will meet the agreed requirements
  2. The service will continually meet requirements for environmental responsibility
  3. The service delivers the required functionality to meet business needs
  4. The service supports the performance of the consumer
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. The service will continually meet requirements for environmental responsibility

environmental responsibility Sustainability in service context specifically assures that the service will continually meet environmental responsibility requirements. This goes beyond one-time compliance to establish ongoing environmental stewardship as a core commitment to meeting stakeholder expectations around ecological impact.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. Meeting agreed requirements is about service quality and compliance, not specifically sustainability.
  • C. Delivering required functionality addresses service effectiveness, not environmental responsibility.
  • D. Supporting consumer performance describes functional benefit, not sustainability assurance.

Question 3

Which of the following describes a sponsor within a consumer organization?

  1. A person or group that has its own functions and authorities
  2. A person or group that authorizes a change
  3. The role that defines the requirements for a service
  4. The role that authorizes the budget for service consumption
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: D. The role that authorizes the budget for service consumption

consumption A sponsor within a consumer organization is the role that authorizes the budget for service consumption. Sponsors hold financial authority and decision-making power regarding resource allocation for services, distinguishing them from other roles that may define requirements or approve changes.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. This describes any organizational function or authority holder, too broad and not specific to sponsorship.
  • B. Change authorization is typically a change manager or approval board responsibility, not a sponsor.
  • C. Defining service requirements is the role of business analysts or requirements owners, not sponsors.

What makes the ITIL 5 Foundation hard

At US$690 per attempt for a 40 question, closed book exam, there is little room for a wasted sitting. ITIL v5 launched in February 2026, the biggest update to the framework in years, and it is no longer only about service management processes: v5 brings in digital product and service lifecycle management, AI governance awareness, and a stronger focus on value co-creation. The Foundation exam is the entry point into the entire ITIL certification path and a prerequisite for every advanced ITIL module above it.

The exam is 40 questions in 60 minutes with a 65% pass mark, and it tests whether ITIL concepts can be applied to scenarios rather than whether the material was simply read. This pack has 40 practice questions for the ITIL v5 Foundation, covering the Service Value System, Four Dimensions, guiding principles, and the new digital product and service lifecycle.
