What makes the 2V0-21.23 hard
Broadcom now files 2V0-21.23 under VMware Legacy Certifications rather than its retired exams list. The certification page is still live with a Register for Exam link and the US$250 price, but the exam is no longer on the current VMware Cloud Foundation certification path map, and some candidates reported scheduling problems in late 2025, so it is worth confirming availability with Pearson VUE before booking.
It is also the broadest of the VMware blueprints covered on this site. It uses an older seven-section structure rather than the standardised five, and six of the seven sections carry testable objectives, only Section 3, Planning and Designing, is empty. That is why it runs to 70 items where the current VCF papers use 60.
Storage decides most of the marks: differentiating NFS, iSCSI and SAN access protocols, datastore types and storage policies, VAAI, VASA and multipathing, vSAN and vVOLs basics, and use cases for RDM, PMem, NVMe, NVMe-oF and RDMA over iSER. Sections 5 and 6 then return to the same material as performance tuning, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair.
About the exam
VMware vSphere 8.x Professional (2V0-21.23) leads to VMware Certified Professional, Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV). It validates the ability to install and configure a vSphere 8.0 infrastructure including ESXi and vCenter, and to manage, operate and maintain a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure. Broadcom currently classifies it as a VMware Legacy Certification.
