What makes the CIPT hard
CIPT is IAPP’s technical privacy credential, aimed at engineers, architects and IT professionals who have to build privacy into systems rather than write policy about it. It pairs naturally with CIPP for anyone bridging the legal and technical sides of privacy.
The exam covers privacy by design and by default, the privacy enhancing technologies toolbox including encryption, de-identification, anonymisation versus pseudonymisation and differential privacy, data lifecycle controls, privacy risks in web, mobile, IoT and AI systems, and how to embed privacy into the software development process. It wants a technologist who can translate privacy principles into engineering decisions.
About the exam
CIPT is IAPP’s technical privacy certification. It validates the ability to embed privacy into technology, understanding privacy risks across the data lifecycle and applying privacy enhancing technologies and privacy by design principles in system development.
