What makes the ENAUTO hard
ENAUTO v2.0 arrived with the February 2026 automation overhaul and does double duty: it is a concentration for CCNP Enterprise and for the newer CCNP Automation. Cisco dropped the generic programming-concepts material from v1.1 and rebuilt the exam around the platforms an enterprise engineer actually automates: IOS XE, Meraki, Catalyst Center, SD-WAN, ISE and ThousandEyes.
Controller-based automation is the biggest domain at 30%: Day-0 provisioning through controllers, Python and Ansible against controller APIs, Jinja2 templates, security automation, and troubleshooting REST API-based solutions. Device-level at 25% covers Netmiko, ncclient and RESTCONF in Python, Ansible for configuration, and on-box automation with EEM and guest shell. Operations expects software version management and model-driven telemetry. The foundation domain is YANG: OpenConfig, IETF and native models, and reading RFC 8340 tree output. AI in Automation at 15% adds AI in controller platforms, AI-assisted development, security risks, and building an MCP server with FastMCP.
