Three of the 100 questions in this pack

Question 1

An architect has made an assumption that existing support staff are adequately skilled to operate the proposed infrastructure design. The risk associated with this assumption would be that existing support staff are inadequately skilled to operate the proposed infrastructure design. How would the architect mitigate the risk?

  1. Complete a skills assessment of the existing support staff to identity the skill gap.
  2. Allocate the necessary time and budget to train existing support staff on the necessary skills required to operate.
  3. Engage a third-party company to deploy and configure the proposed solution.
  4. Hire additional support staff with the same skillsets to add more support capacity.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. Complete a skills assessment of the existing support staff to identity the skill gap.

staff to identity the skill gap. The assumption is unvalidated, so the architect's mitigation is to turn it into measured fact by performing a formal skills assessment against the operational requirements of the proposed design. The assessment identifies exactly which skills are missing, for which roles and for how many people, which is what allows a targeted and costed remediation plan to be built. Without that data any remediation is guesswork and may not reduce the risk at all.

Why the other options are wrong

  • B. Funding and scheduling training is the remediation action that follows once an assessment has defined which specific skills are missing.
  • C. Using a third party to deploy and configure the solution transfers the build effort but leaves the same staff operating the platform afterwards.
  • D. Adding people with the same skillsets increases capacity without closing the skills gap that created the risk.

Question 2

An architect is designing a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)-based solution. The company policy mandates that all VCF patches and upgrades must be tested in a development environment before applying to production. Which VCF construct design decision would comply with this mandate?

  1. Deploy two VCF vSphere Clusters within a VCF Domain.
  2. Deploy two VCF Domains within a VCF Instance.
  3. Deploy two VCF Instances within a VCF Fleet.
  4. Deploy two VCF Fleets within a VCF Private Cloud.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: C. Deploy two VCF Instances within a VCF Fleet.

VCF Instances represent independent, fully separate VCF deployments that can function completely independently of one another. Deploying two VCF Instances allows the architect to maintain a complete development environment (one instance) separate from production (another instance), enabling testing of patches and upgrades without affecting production. This separation satisfies the company policy mandate. Options A and B involve clustering within the same VCF construct, preventing true isolation. Option D (Fleets) is a management grouping layer above instances and does not provide the required isolation.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. Two vSphere Clusters within a Domain are part of the same VCF Instance and share management infrastructure, preventing true development-to-production separation.
  • B. Two Domains within an Instance still share the same VCF management plane, not providing the isolation needed for safe testing before production deployment.
  • D. Fleets are a management and orchestration layer grouping multiple instances; this does not address the development-to-production testing requirement.

Question 3

An architect is responsible for designing a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)-based solution for a customer. The customer has the following requirement: There should be no single points of failure within the solution. To comply with the customer requirement, the architect has decided to include physical NIC teaming for all ESX servers in the design. When documenting this design decision, which consideration should the architect make?

  1. Only 10GbE NICs should be used for NIC teaming.
  2. Embedded NICs should not be used for NIC teaming.
  3. Each NIC team must include NICs from the same physical NIC Card.
  4. Each NIC team must include NICs from different physical NIC Cards.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: D. Each NIC team must include NICs from different physical NIC Cards.

physical NIC Cards. To eliminate single points of failure in NIC teaming, each team must include NICs from different physical NIC cards. If all NICs in a team come from the same physical card, a single card failure would eliminate the entire team, creating a single point of failure. Using NICs from different physical cards ensures that failure of one card does not compromise the entire team's connectivity.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. While 10GbE may be preferred for performance, NIC teaming can function with other speeds and this is not a requirement to eliminate single points of failure.
  • B. Embedded NICs can be used in teaming configurations if they meet other design requirements; they are not inherently prohibited.
  • C. NICs from the same physical card create a single point of failure if that card fails, directly contradicting the no-single-point-of-failure requirement.

What makes the 2V0-13.25 hard

This is a design exam, and that is the whole difficulty. Broadcom’s own blueprint records no testable objectives for Section 4 (Install, Configure, Administrate) and Section 5 (Troubleshoot and Optimize). Nothing on this exam asks a candidate to click through a deployment or read a log. Everything left is requirements, constraints, assumptions, risks, and the design decisions that follow from them.

Candidates who fail 2V0-13.25 almost always fail the same way: they study VCF the way an administrator studies it, then meet a question that gives them a stakeholder statement and asks which design decision satisfies it. Knowing how to build a workload domain does not indicate whether a stretched cluster is justified by the stated recovery requirement.

The vocabulary is graded strictly. Broadcom tests the difference between a business requirement and a technical requirement, between a conceptual model and a logical design and a physical design, and between a requirement, an assumption, a constraint and a risk, as separate objectives. AMPRS (availability, manageability, performance, recoverability and security) runs through the whole paper as the framework for justifying a decision and documenting its implications. This is the current architect exam on Broadcom’s 2025 certification path map, sitting alongside 2V0-17.25 for administration.

About the exam

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 Architect (2V0-13.25) leads to VMware Certified Professional, VMware Cloud Foundation Architect (VCP-VCF Architect). It validates the ability to translate stakeholder requirements into a VCF design across compute, storage, networking and cloud management, and to document the decisions and their implications. Broadcom recommends one to two years designing VMware-based solutions, including six months or more on VCF.

Exam sections

  • Section 1, IT Architectures, Technologies, Standards
  • Section 2, VMware Products and Solutions
  • Section 3, Plan and Design the VMware Solution
  • Section 4, Install, Configure, Administrate the VMware Solution: no testable objectives
  • Section 5, Troubleshoot and Optimize the VMware Solution: no testable objectives

Broadcom publishes the section and objective list for this exam but does not publish a percentage weight per section. 60 items, 135-minute appointment, passing score 300 on a scaled method, US$250 per attempt at the VCP voucher price, proctored through Pearson VUE, offered in English.
