What makes the AI-901 hard
AI-901 is the exam that replaces AI-900, with skills measured as of 15 April 2026. The certification name is the same; the exam is very different.
AI-900 was a concepts exam that could be passed without opening a portal. AI-901 is 55 to 60% implementing AI solutions with Microsoft Foundry: deploying a model in the Foundry portal, building a lightweight chat client with the Foundry SDK, creating and testing a single-agent solution, responding to spoken prompts with a multimodal model, interpreting and generating images, and pulling information out of documents, images, audio and video with Content Understanding. Microsoft’s own audience profile now expects Python syntax and familiarity with Azure resources. Candidates studying from an AI-900 course will recognise the responsible AI principles and workload definitions, and then hit a wall on the second half.
Because the exam is only a few months old, there is very little in circulation. This pack has 128 practice questions for the AI-901.
