Three of the 231 questions in this pack

Question 1

The business analyst at Cloud Kicks is using a checklist to assess the quality of user stories for an upcoming Experience Cloud implementation. Which characteristics make a user story successful?

  1. Actionable, Concise, Testable, Solution-oriented, Defined
  2. Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small, Testable
  3. Clear, Direct, Concise, Cross Functional. Configurable
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small, Testable

The INVEST framework defines the six characteristics of successful user stories: Independent (can be completed without depending on other stories), Negotiable (details can be discussed and refined), Valuable (provides clear business value), Estimable (team can estimate effort), Small (completable within a sprint), and Testable (acceptance criteria are clear and verifiable). This framework is the industry standard for assessing user story quality in Agile and Scrum methodologies.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. While actionable and testable appear in this list, 'solution-oriented' and 'defined' are not standard INVEST criteria for user stories.
  • C. These characteristics are too vague and lack the specificity of the INVEST framework; 'configurable' is not a standard user story quality criterion.

Question 2

Universal Containers has just been notified by authorities that govern the shipping industry of new regulatory requirements. To comply, there are several existing processes built on Salesforce that will need to change. A business analyst (BA) will help describe the additional business needs imposed by the new regulations. Which type of document should the BA prepare?

  1. Current state analysis
  2. Audit log
  3. Gap analysis
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: C. Gap analysis

A gap analysis identifies the differences between the current state (existing processes and systems) and the desired future state (new regulatory requirements). When new regulatory requirements mandate process changes, a gap analysis documents what currently exists, what is required by the new regulations, and what changes must be made to achieve compliance. This is precisely what the business analyst needs to prepare to describe additional business needs imposed by regulations.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. A current state analysis describes only the existing situation, not the differences between current and required states.
  • B. An audit log is a system-generated record of user activities and transactions, not a business requirements document for regulatory compliance.

Question 3

Universal Containers (UC) is working with an implementation partner to help it optimize Salesforce. A new business analyst (BA) from the partner was introduced to UC stakeholders a few weeks into the project. The BA is getting to know each of the stakeholders by their roles and contributions. However, the BA had one misstep and is slightly embarrassed. What should the BA do to build trust with the stakeholders?

  1. Be vulnerable and own their mistake.
  2. Promise to work harder to avoid other mistakes.
  3. Ask their supervisor for help immediately.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. Be vulnerable and own their mistake.

Being vulnerable and owning mistakes is a foundational element of building trust in professional relationships. When a business analyst acknowledges an error transparently and takes responsibility, stakeholders perceive honesty and integrity, which strengthens credibility and rapport. This approach demonstrates maturity and professionalism, allowing stakeholders to see the analyst as trustworthy despite the mistake.

Why the other options are wrong

  • B. Promising to work harder is reactive and defensive; it doesn't address the immediate need to rebuild trust through accountability.
  • C. Escalating to a supervisor immediately can appear as avoiding responsibility and undermines the analyst's ability to handle interpersonal challenges independently.

3 reviews for Salesforce Business Analyst Exam Practice Questions

  1. Elisabeth Lange –

I failed the BA exam the first time around, and let me tell you, it was a major confidence blow. Upon careful analysis, I realized that I never really dedicated sufficient time to practicing. So, this time around I wanted to do things differently, and after much research, landed on these exam dumps. They pinpointed my knowledge gaps and helped me focus my preparation. The second time around, I aced the exam! Huge thanks to Certstash for helping me turn that frown upside down.

  2. Daniel Nielsen –

What makes the Business Analyst hard

The Business Analyst exam has one of the higher pass marks in the Salesforce catalogue at 72%, and almost no questions can be answered from platform knowledge alone. Every item is a scenario: a stakeholder wants something, a project is drifting, a user story is vague, and you choose the action a good analyst takes next. Three of the six domains, stakeholder collaboration, requirements and user stories, make up 59% of the exam between them, and all three test judgement rather than features.

Collaboration with Stakeholders is the largest domain at 23%: discovery activities by stakeholder type, identifying important stakeholders and building the relationship, facilitation and workshops, resolving competing priorities and moving from current state to an agreed future state. Requirements and User Stories, 18% each, cover eliciting, validating, prioritising and documenting requirements, the 3 Cs and INVEST, writing acceptance criteria ready for development, and keeping stories in a version-controlled repository. Customer Discovery (17%) covers scoping a project, understanding the business and the Salesforce environment, stakeholder analysis and empathetic research techniques. Business Process Mapping (12%) covers universal process notation, journey maps, current and future state diagrams and where automation fits. Development Support and User Acceptance (12%) covers supporting delivery, user acceptance testing, go and no-go decisions and value realisation.

The right answer is almost always the collaborative, proportionate one; the distractors are the shortcuts.

About the exam

The Salesforce Certified Business Analyst credential validates the ability to elicit customer needs, collaborate with stakeholders, map business processes, document requirements and user stories, and support delivery and user acceptance on the Salesforce Platform. There are no prerequisites; Salesforce recommends two years of business analysis experience and two years of Salesforce Platform experience.
