Three of the 138 questions in this pack

Question 1

Which statement about Requirements Management is most correct?

  1. Requirements Management and stakeholder engagement are placed at the center of architecture development.
  2. Stakeholder requirements are captured once in Phase A and managed throughout the ADM cycle.
  3. Requirements Management is a step of all ADM Phases.
  4. The purpose of Requirements Management is to process change requests.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. Requirements Management and stakeholder engagement are placed at the center of architecture development.

engagement are placed at the center of architecture development. Requirements Management and stakeholder engagement form the central focus of architecture development in TOGAF. This is reflected in the ADM cycle where Requirements Management acts as a continuous, overarching process that intersects all phases rather than being confined to a single phase. It ensures that stakeholder needs drive architectural decisions throughout the entire development lifecycle.

Why the other options are wrong

  • B. While stakeholder requirements are captured in Phase A, they are not managed only in that phase; Requirements Management is continuous across all ADM phases.
  • C. Requirements Management is not a step within each phase; it is a continuous cross- cutting discipline that supports all phases.
  • D. Processing change requests is part of Requirements Management, but it is not the primary purpose; the overarching purpose is to align architecture with stakeholder needs.

Question 2

Which of the following best describes the class of information known as the Reference Library within the Architecture Repository?

  1. A record of the governance activity across the enterprise
  2. Processes to support governance of the Architecture Repository
  3. Specifications to which architectures must conform
  4. Guidelines and templates used to create new architectures
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: D. Guidelines and templates used to create new architectures

architectures The Reference Library within the Architecture Repository contains guidelines, templates, patterns, and best practices that architects use as resources when creating new architectures. These are reusable artifacts that provide standardized approaches and accelerate architecture development.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. Recording governance activity is the function of the Governance Log, not the Reference Library.
  • B. Processes to support governance of the Architecture Repository are part of the Governance section, not the Reference Library.
  • C. Specifications to which architectures must conform are typically found in the Standards Information Base, not the Reference Library.

Question 3

Which of the following describes how the Enterprise Continuum is used when developing an enterprise architecture?

  1. To describe how an architecture addresses stakeholder concerns
  2. To classify architecture and solution assets
  3. To identify and understand business requirements
  4. To coordinate with the other management frameworks in use
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. To classify architecture and solution assets

The Enterprise Continuum is a tool used to classify and organize architecture and solution assets along a spectrum from generic (foundational standards and reference models) to organization-specific implementations. It helps architects position new work within the existing landscape of reusable and specific artifacts.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. Describing how an architecture addresses stakeholder concerns is the role of architectural viewpoints and views, not the Enterprise Continuum.
  • C. Identifying and understanding business requirements is a responsibility of Phase A and Requirements Management, not primarily the Enterprise Continuum.
  • D. Coordinating with other management frameworks is part of governance and architecture governance, not a primary use of the Enterprise Continuum.

What makes the OGEA-101 hard

OGEA-101 is the Foundation half of TOGAF Enterprise Architecture on the 10th Edition of the standard, and it is a short, closed-book exam: 40 questions in 60 minutes with 24 correct to pass. Unlike most vendors, The Open Group publishes exactly how many questions come from each topic, so there is no guessing about where to spend revision time.

Introduction to the ADM is 14 of the 40 questions, more than a third of the exam: the Architecture Development Method phases from Preliminary through Requirements Management, what each phase produces, and how the cycle iterates. Concepts is 8 questions on what enterprise architecture is, the structure of the TOGAF Standard, the TOGAF Library, the Enterprise Continuum and the Architecture Repository, and core terminology such as building blocks, artifacts, deliverables and views.

Introduction to the ADM Techniques is 6 questions on architecture principles, stakeholder management, gap analysis, business scenarios, risk management and architecture alternatives. Architecture Content is 5 questions on the Content Framework and metamodel, Introduction to Applying the ADM is 4 questions on iteration, architecture levels, security and agile considerations, and Introduction to Architecture Governance is 3 questions on the Architecture Board, contracts and compliance reviews. The questions are recall and comprehension, so precise TOGAF definitions matter more than architectural judgement, which is tested in Part 2.
