What makes the DCID hard
DCID v1.2 changed its own title: the exam is now Designing Cisco Data Center Infrastructure for Traditional and AI Workloads, and the AI half is not decoration. The first objective in the biggest domain is AI and ML concepts, training versus inference, GPUs, DPUs and SmartNICs, and the network requirements that follow. An older v1.1 bank has none of that.
Network design is 35% of the exam: RoCEv2, Ethernet versus InfiniBand and RDMA for high-performance fabrics, lossless Ethernet QoS, Layer 2 options with vPC and LACP, VXLAN EVPN for data centre interconnect, and management and redundancy strategies including Nexus Dashboard. Compute at 25% covers UCS Ethernet and storage connectivity, fabric interconnect modes, direct-attached FC and FCoE, and UCS-X design for AI and ML. Storage network design covers iSCSI multipathing, FC and iSCSI QoS, and storage for high-performance networks. Automation covers Intersight, NX-API, Ansible, Python and Terraform.
