What makes the NCP-MCI 6.10 hard
NCP-MCI 6.10 is written against AOS 6.10 and Prism Central pc2024.2. It is a hands-on administrator’s exam rather than a concepts one: 75 multiple-choice and multiple-response questions in 120 minutes, scored on a scale from 1000 to 6000 with 3000 needed to pass. Nutanix does not publish percentage weightings for this exam, but it does say question counts follow the criticality of each task, and the blueprint’s five sections make the shape clear.
Nutanix released NCP-MCI 7.5 in mid-2026 and runs both versions side by side during the transition, so check which version your voucher covers before you book.
Cluster management and troubleshooting are the two largest sections. Managing clusters covers storage containers and volume groups, authentication, SSL certificates, AHV hardening, network segmentation, IAM RBAC and projects, NTP, SMTP and syslog, VLAN subnets, virtual switches and load balancing policies, Life Cycle Manager inventory and firmware and software updates, adding and removing nodes and disks, and Intelligent Operations capacity and what-if scenarios. Troubleshooting covers protection policy and recovery plan failures such as network mapping, vNIC and script errors, Metro replication state and design problems, CVM communication and Prism security warnings, LCM inventory and update failures, and reading performance charts and logs to fix a VM configuration.
Managing VMs covers creating, updating and deploying VMs from templates and images, affinity policies, hot versus cold changes, migrations with Move, OVA export, and categories, labels, storage policies and projects. Disaster recovery covers protection policies with async and NearSync, availability zones and remote sites, recovery plans with network mapping and scripts, and Metro Availability on AHV versus vSphere, including witness and split-brain prevention. Custom monitoring covers analysis charts, reports and capacity runway.
