What makes the PL-900 hard
The PL-900 fails people on the boundaries between products. Everyone knows what Power Apps is: the exam asks which of several overlapping tools solves a specific business problem, and Microsoft has an official answer.
Canvas app or model-driven app. Power Automate cloud flow or desktop flow. A Copilot Studio agent or a plain automation. Then Dataverse underneath it all: tables, columns and security roles, which candidates who have only built quick apps have rarely had to name properly.
Worth knowing before planning your study: the current blueprint no longer has a Power BI domain. Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio agents and environment management now carry 20 to 25% each, and the business value domain is only 5 to 10%. Older PL-900 material that spends a chapter on dashboards and reports describes a version of the exam that no longer exists.
With PL-200 retiring and PL-500 and PL-600 already gone, PL-900 is the surviving entry point to the whole Power Platform track.
