Three of the 399 questions in this pack

Question 1

Note: This question is part of a series of questions that present the same scenario. Each question in the series contains a unique solution that might meet the stated goals. Some question sets might have more than one correct solution, while others might not have a correct solution.

After you answer a question in this section, you will NOT be able to return to it. As a result, these questions will not appear in the review screen.

You create a new form in a project.

You need to display tabs in a vertical alignment.

Solution: Apply the Operational Workspaces pattern.

Does the solution meet the goal?

  1. Yes
  2. No
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. No

The Operational Workspaces pattern is designed for managing operational tasks and workflows, not for displaying tabs in a vertical alignment. To display tabs vertically in a form, you would need a pattern specifically designed for vertical tab navigation, which the Operational Workspaces pattern does not provide.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. The Operational Workspaces pattern does not support vertical tab alignment.

Question 2

Note: This question is part of a series of questions that present the same scenario. Each question in the series contains a unique solution that might meet the stated goals. Some question sets might have more than one correct solution, while others might not have a correct solution.

After you answer a question in this section, you will NOT be able to return to it. As a result, these questions will not appear in the review screen.

You create a new form in a project.

You need to display tabs in a vertical alignment.

Solution: Apply the Details Master pattern.

Does the solution meet the goal?

  1. Yes
  2. No
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. Yes

The Details Master pattern is specifically designed to display master-detail relationships and supports vertical tab alignment for organizing related information in a hierarchical structure. This pattern allows tabs to be arranged vertically on the left side of the form with corresponding details displayed on the right.

Why the other options are wrong

  • B. The Details Master pattern is the appropriate choice for vertical tab alignment.

Question 3

You are a Dynamics 365 Finance developer. You have a virtual machine that includes Visual Studio.

You need to display the elements by model.

What should you do?

  1. Select Model management from the menu and then select View all package dependences.
  2. Right-click the Application Object Tree (AOT) node in Application Explorer and select Model View.
  3. Select Metadata Search from the Dynamics 365 menu.
  4. Select Model Management from the menu and then select Refresh Models.
Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. Right-click the Application Object Tree (AOT) node in Application Explorer and select Model View.

Application Explorer and select Model View. To display elements organized by model in Visual Studio, you right-click the Application Object Tree (AOT) node in Application Explorer and select Model View. This displays all elements grouped and organized by their respective models, allowing you to see the model hierarchy and structure.

Why the other options are wrong

  • A. Model management menu options relate to package dependencies, not viewing elements by model.
  • C. Metadata Search is used to find specific elements, not to organize display by model.
  • D. Refresh Models updates model information but does not change the display view to show elements by model.

What makes the MB-500 hard

MB-500 is the X++ exam. Microsoft’s January 2026 refresh pushed more weight into Develop and test code and rewrote the ALM, data model and data management sections, so the exam now assumes candidates work in the Unified Developer Experience, manage environments through the Power Platform admin center and the Implementation portal, and choose between TFVC and Git rather than living in Lifecycle Services alone.

Develop and test code is the biggest domain at 20 to 25%: X++ constructs and CRUD, variable scoping, inheritance, QueryBuilder, attribute classes, Chain of Command, event handlers and delegates, avoiding breaking changes, the SysOperation, workflow and SysExtensionSerializer frameworks, and unit tests with SysTest and Task recorder. AOT elements and data integration are the next two at 15 to 20% each: extending forms, tables, views, queries, maps and data entities; RESTful and SOAP consumption, custom services, Batch OData, composite and aggregate entities, change tracking, recurring data jobs, dual-write, virtual entities, business events and Key Vault.

Security and performance closes it out with XDS policies, caching, set-based versus row-based queries, Trace Parser and the Async and Sandbox frameworks. Reporting expects SSRS, Power BI, Excel and Electronic reporting, not just one of them.
