What makes the PAM-SEN hard
PAM-SEN is the deployment exam. Where Defender asks whether you can run a CyberArk Privileged Access Manager environment, Sentry asks whether you can build one: install and configure the Vault and its components, make it highly available, integrate it with the directory, the SIEM and the network, harden it, and fix it when a component stops talking to the Vault. CyberArk Defender, PAM is the prerequisite.
Installation and architecture carry the most questions: Vault installation and hardening, component installation order and credentials, high availability and disaster recovery with the Cluster Vault and DR Vault, integrations with LDAP, RADIUS, SAML, SIEM and PTA, and troubleshooting component logs and traces.
It runs to around 65 questions in 90 minutes with a 70% pass mark, in person only at Pearson VUE since November 2025. Candidates report the multi-component scenarios as the hardest, a session that records but will not proxy, or a DR Vault that fails to replicate, where you have to know which component owns the failure.
